Martin Luther King Jr. Biography
Over the years there have been a few people who have truely changed the course of histoy and Martin Luther King Jr. is one of them.
His life and actions where so well recognized that he has been honored by having his birthday celebrated each year. This holiday is known as Martin Luther King Day and is celebrated in January.
Many buildings and streets have been named after Martin Luther King Jr. to honor him and the change he has brought to this country. If you do a google search you will find that there are many schools name the "Martin Luther King Jr. High School" to honor what this man has done for so many.
His famous "I Have A Dream Speech" which was delivered on August 28, 1963 to more than 200,000 people gathered before the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. categorically inspired the future.
Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis, TN in 1968 where he had gone to lead a march of Aferican American sanitation workers who where marching to protest their low wages and bad working conditions.

Even though the charismatic Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was a well known civil rights leader he advocated non-violent change. His tactics to create change were sit-ins and protest marches.
His assassination led to many riots in 100s of cities throughout the US.
The Motel where Dr. King was assassinated is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum.
As one of the leaders of the State of Alabama bus boycott in 1955 he was propelled into national prominence.
Then in 1963 Dr. King led a hugh march on Washington DC which is where is delivered his famous "I Have A Dream" speech that has gone down in history to inspire so many others.
MLK Jr. was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1964.
James Earl Ray was arrested and convicted of Dr. King's murder. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison.
Even though he later retracted his confession and stated that he had only been a small player in a bigger conspiracy, his appeals for a new trial were rejected and he died in prison in 1998 at the age of seventy.
It was long believed that Dr. King was indeed the victim of a murder conspiracy.
